This class is for dogs at least 12 weeks old (or for any dog that has not started any agility training).  It will also be necessary for any dog/handler team wishing to go on to any of the other Agility classes at Greta’s Gym to complete this class or “test out” of this class in order to move on.  Every dog/handler team must “successfully” acquire the skills taught in this class to “move on”.

The class will include some basic obedience skills that we feel are required to be successful on an agility course.  This class is designed to aid you and your new agility teammate to build a strong working relationship!  We will work on creating a strong play drive.  You and your dog will be exposed to “operant conditioning”.  To help aid your dog on focus training, we will play “crate games”.  We will also introduce your dog to end contacts and agility groundwork.

This class is for all dog/handler teams who have acquired the skills in “Agility 101”.

At this level, the dog/handlers will be exposed to all agility equipment and will continue to work on the progression of “contact training”.  We will begin some initial “sequencing” of jumps/obstacles.

This class is for all dog/handler teams who have acquired the skills in “Introduction to Agility Equipment”.   At this level, the dog/handlers teams will be expected to be completing all contact obstacles and weave poles successfully.  We will continue to work on sequencing and advanced skills.

This class is for all dog/handler teams who have acquired the skills in “Advanced Agility Skills”.  At this level, the dog/handlers will be working on competition level course work and distance skills.  These handler/dog teams should be competing and working on their own individual agility goals, titles, etc.

Rally is a fun way to break into the competition world with little or no pressure.  In this class we will discuss each sign at every level and learn how to properly negotiate a Rally Course.  This class is for all levels of Rally.

This class is for beginner level dogs 6 months of age and older.  We will cover all the basic commands such as sit, down, stay, come and walk on lead, as well as working on household manners and everyday good behavior.  Each week we will have a different confidence builder to help the dogs learn trust and boost their self confidence.  Commands are taught in a way that solidifies the behaviors so the dog can consistently achieve success.  Building a solid foundation within this class will make future training easier between handler and dog.

Dogs must have all required vaccines.

We will build on the reliability of all basic commands plus introduce off leash work.  All skills will be proofed and made more challenging in a number of ways, to ensure the dogs success in any situation.  Confidence building skills will continue, also becoming more challenging.  After completing this class, the dogs will be reliable in a variety of situations and environments with all basic commands.

This class focuses on total off leash control.  All skills will be challenged in a controlled off leash setting to make reliability and distance even greater.  Confidence building skills will be increased and done off leash.  The dogs will be taught some AKC Rally and Competition maneuvers as well.  Those not interested in competition could continue in this class indefinitely.

This class will be geared to those interested in competing and we will cover every aspect of competition.  We will cover rules and regulations, as well as focusing on all skills to make a well balanced team.  We will work on AKC Obedience skills along with all Rally skills needed to become prepared for trials.
